allows international students to discover life in the United State, with great flexibility and at an affordable cost. the Work and Travel program is designed for the purpose of giving overseas students a chance to become more than typical tourists by having first hand experience in the U.S working with U.S citizens in temporary employment, most importantly you may earn money while you discover America and yourself during your summer vacation. Through out the work & travel U.S.A program you can work in a variety
of jobs for a period not to exceed four months during your summer vacation

 Eligibility Requirements: 
 Please be ready to provide proof that:          

  • You are18 + years old.
  • You are registered as a full time student at a university.
  • You are able to function in an English-speaking work environment.
  • Undergo an English language interview. 


     
     
    Work & Travel Hiring Events
     
    Ciee works directly with major US employers to hire international students. We offer Representatives multiple channels for your participants to obtain a job via Ciee. The four hiring services are:-

    Ciee Road Show
    Ciee organizes a number of international job fairs throughout the year for the US employers to hire their summer staff in person. Employers traveling on Road Shows are usually looking to hire in excess of 175
    students. 
       
     
    Ciee Recruit
    Ciee Recruit is a job fair where Ciee hires students on behalf of US employers. A Ciee staff member will meet with interested students and interview them based on the US employers' particular selection criteria.

                       
    Ciee Direct Database
    Student can also find a job with an employer without attending a job fair. This hiring service allows participants to be hired through our on line jobs by giving the student an ID and pass word so he"she can go through the Net and find out a job fair ( must be approved by Ciee).

    Independent Job or self arranged
    Students can find their job by themselves (must be approved by Ciee and Divan).

    Types of jobs not open to Work & Travel

    - Au pair, mother helper, nanny, babysitter, servant, maid or other jobs of a domestic nature in private home.
    - All type of medical services.

    - Camp counselor, crew member on ships or airplanes.
    - Any door to door sales job.

    Working in the U.S (Types of Jobs)

    Important Documents:

    ·    A copy of a valid passport.

    ·    5 appropriate color smiling photo size 5x5. (US embassy required)

    ·    A copy of English proficiency proof or Program Test taken at Divan. 

    ·    Complete the participant application form.

    ·    A student proof from your university - two original copy.

    Orientation

    Students participating in the program must attend two orientation sessions:-

       

    The first; Visa orientation conducted by our staff at Divan Travel Student. During which you will learn:-

    •  Useful information about how to complete your application documents; Ds-156 Ds-157, Ds-158, 
    • You will also learn how to apply to U.S embassy, interview tips, what kind of documents you need to take in order to obtain a   visa.


    The second; Host Country Orientation conducted by Ciee staff which will give you a chance to meet the people who will provide you with the help and advice you will need during your stay in the U.S.A and to answer any questions you may have.

     
    You will get a scoop on important issues as:-

Student information

Q: when to apply?
A: starts from September and ends in February by next year with the possibility to extend the date according to season.

Q: how to apply?
A: you can apply to Work & Travel USA by visiting Divan Travel Student in your home country. Our staff has unmatched experience and we will do our best to make your Work & Travel dream come true.

Q: do I have to attend both orientation sessions?
A: Yes, you must attend both orientation sessions in order to get complete information about the rules and regulations of the program as well as the laws while you are staying in the USA and to get your visa in order for you to be able to travel.

Work Information

Q: How many hours will I work?
A: You can work between 30_40 hours per week, some employers give overtime work.

Q: How much will I be paid?

A: It depends on the employer but a typical Work & Travel job has an average of 7_10 $ per hour

Q: Can I have a second job?

A: Yes, you can have two jobs as long as it dose not conflict with the duties and / or responsibilities of your primary job and approved by Ciee.

Q: Can I drive and get a driver license?
A: Yes, please check with Department of Motor Vehicles in your state in order to get a driver's licenses or you can get a international license from your home country.

Q: How do I find housing?
A: According to the Ciee agreement every student has a place to stay but if your agreement doesn't have one, the Ciee well help you find a place.


Visa Information

Q: What is culture exchange?
A: The United States' Department of States operates the exchange visitor program to facilitate Educational and Culture Exchange activities to develop and promote mutual understanding between the people of the United State and those of other countries of the world.

Q: What type of visa do I need in order to work in the U.S.A?

A: In order to participate in the program you need to obtain a J1 exchange visitor visa, your J-1 visa allows you to visit the U.S and work for up to 4 months during your university summer vacation.

Q: What is J1 visa?

A: J1 visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by the American Embassy to the participants of summer Work and Travel program which welcomes international students to work in the USA during summer months, learn about the country, and promote culture exchange. This visa enables the students to enter the USA and work there for a maximum of 4 months  during their summer vacation.

Exchange Visitor (J) Visas

Q: What is DS-2019?
A: The DS-2019 is a multi-purpose document issued by an a US government approved institution or organization certifying that your admission into a program has been accepted and that you have demonstrates sufficient financial resources to stay in the USA for the length of time indicated in the DS-2019 form. The DS-2019 is officially titled the "Certificate of eligibility" and only then,once you obtain one, you may become "eligible " to apply for a J1 visa at a U.S.A embassy or consulate abroad. Your spouse or children will also each need their own DS-2019 to obtain J-2 dependent status if desired.

What is SEVIS?

Q: How can I know that my visa has been approved?
A: after your interview with the US Embassy officer he/she will show you one of these papers
1. Green paper with visa approved.
2. Yellow paper with visa pending.
3. White paper with visa refused.


Q: What kind of documents should I have with me at the U.S.A airport?
A: the immigration officer will request the following documents:-
• DS-2019.
• SEVIS registration.
• Valid passport with J1 visa.
• A copy of working agreement issued for the program.
