Overview
USA High School program is a ten-month academic year,
including home stay, beginning August. Students aged 15 to 18 spend a high
school year living with a pre-arranged host family and attending a US high
school.
Participants must demonstrate the skills,
motivation and maturity that are crucial to their success in the program.
Students are placed with host families throughout the US - from a small town in
Iowa to a suburb of Boston. They are expected to be active in all aspects of
family and community life.
There is no better way to
learn about a different culture than to live, study and become a member of a
new community abroad.

Program Duration and
Dates
The
high school program is a ten-month academic year program, arrival occurs in
August 2006 for the academic year; you can apply to participate in this program
as of September1st, until April 30, of each year, the sooner you apply the
better your chances in locating in a specific state will be, since regional
selection applications are accepted until January 31st of each year, any
regional applications after this date will not be considered.

Eligibility
-
Students must be between the ages of 15 and 18.5 years old.
-
Students must not have completed more than 11 years of school nor have
graduated in their home country.
- Students must have studied
English in an academic environment, a school or al language school for a
minimum of three years.
- Students must demonstrate sufficient comprehension
andcommunication skills to manage in a US high school and family.
-
Students must pass the English language test (Michigan Test), with a score of
65 or higher.
- Students must submit school transcripts or the
current and three previous academic years which will be translated into the US
grading system. These records must indicate a grade point
average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 (C+) or better. They must not have failed a year of school.
- Students must demonstrate the
personal qualities necessary to manage a school year away from home as
maturity, open
mindedness… etc.

Processing and
documentation
Processing the application may
take 3 months minimum depending on the time we receive your application, you
should be aware that choosing the suitable host family and school for you isn't
an easy job.
For registration in the program, kindly
prepare the following documents:
- A photocopy of the details page
of your passport.
- Grade transcripts of the former three years
along with your current transcripts.
- A recommendation letter from
your English teacher.
- A full and comprehensive medical exam.
- A letter to the host family stating why you want to participate
in the program and what do you expect from it.
- A letter from your
parents to the host family.
- 10 5×5 pictures, white background
(American Embassy pictures).
- 6 Family pictures at least for the
student with his / her family members.
You should be
aware that we might ask you to bring or fill other applications.
